Spring Break 2014

As luck would have it, we planned to take a trip during Spring Break but had not chosen our destination.....luckily, work dictated that we be in Washington DC so I could assist with a remote trial site.  What a hardship!

We left Houston, where Old Man Winter had almost relinquished his hold and allowed warmer temps to settle in for the Nation's Capitol where a snow storm is predicted for tomorrow!  We are prepared though....brought snow boots and warm coats and the works!

Saturday we worked setting up the war room then were able to take in a few sights - the White House South Lawn, a walk down Pennsylvania Avenue, and then around to the front of the White House and one of them right out of our hotel window - the Washington Monument at dusk - what a sight!

Dinner at the Old Ebbitt Grill was delicious then another walk past the White House which was all lit up enough for a LOT of folks around to ask "I wonder what the electricity bill is for one month?"

Sunday we watched the National St. Patrick's Day Parade and got candy and green beads delivered to us - no jumping around grabbing at beads yelling "throw me somethin' Mister!".  Very civilized....We also saw what we thought was Marine One twice.  Not sure if it was, but it was a two-tone white and green helicopter, flying low, around the Washington Monument then off toward the White House.

We saw many different Color Guards, fire engines and plenty of Irish Dancing groups.

There were even several breeds of dogs in the parade - Irish Wolf Hounds, Irish Terriers and at least one Great Dane.

After the parade we went to the gift shop at the Washington Monument and got our stamps for our National Parks Passport.

Take a peek at some of sights we've seen....
